When my wife pulled into the driveway, all I could hear was her little car going CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK but only at crawling speeds or whilst idling. After making sure it wasn’t out of oil or some crazy shit, I took it for a drive, where, as always, it was great. The cabin is still very quiet. All guages where they ought to be, no disturbing noises coming from the block itself. However, it is loud. After some of research, it seems that it is most like the belt tensioner, which once upon a time, had a bulletin from Toyota for the 1ZZ engine (which the Vibe has).

The dealership I bought the car from changed the belt before sale... Wondering if I should try to poke the bear and see if they’ll replace the tensioner... We’ve had the car for only a few weeks and I’m going back to pick up the plates Wednesday. What do you think?

could always get them to check it. Often times a good mechanic should sort it out.

Nothing to lose. The worst they can say is “no.”

They’re good guys and the shop they use is very thorough.

Worth a try it’s not like you’ve had it for a year! If not try to make a deal with them to do it for maybe 50% of the cost?
